Conversations By the Water - Questions and Answers about being Episcopalian

Do you think there are things about being an Episcopalian that you should know, or are expected to know?

Well, there aren't really.

But, if you have questions that you would like answered, perhaps because there are things:

  • that you always wondered about
  • that you would simply like to know
  • that you knew once and forgot
  • that you were never told
  • that are all new to you...

then Conversations by the Water is the place for you. The only thing to know: there are no stupid questions.

Mother Nancy starts a new conversation series in the fall and spring, generally meeting on Sunday afternoons or at a time most convenient for the group. The group meets for a couple of hours for about 8-10 weeks.

What do we talk about?

The first question to each group is, "What do you want to know?" These are conversations, not lectures.

Typical subjects discussed:

  • Preparation for membership in the church
  • The Book of Common Prayer: what's in it, how to use it
  • Worship: its form, history, significance
  • Scripture: the lectionary and its three-year cycle, other sources
  • History of the Episcopal/Anglican church; what is unique about us
  • Spirituality and prayer life
  • How the Episcopal church is organized

If you are curious, if you have an inquiring mind, if you want to know more about this Episcopalian business, then come join in some good conversations. For more information, contact Mother Nancy.
